I have recently purchased a Mazda 6 2.2 TS2 Diesel. With Full service history. The DPF light has come on at 65,000 - The dealership has adviced this it due to the Timing chain exceding tolerance (stretching) and this is an indication of imminent failure. The cosat of replacement is £950. Surely a timing chain failure at this milage is a manufactures fault. Also I have seen reference to Mazda
The Mazda 2.2 engine is affected by DPF issues - though it's certainly better than the previous 2.0, which many owners feel was simply unfit for purpose. The DPF seems to go into self regenerate mode an awful lot, which injects extra fuel to raise the temp in the filter.
Start the engine and allow the engine to warm up to at least 140 F. Increase engine speed in 200 RPM increments from IDLE to W.O.T. and observe the Actual Fuel Rail Pressure and Desired Fuel Rail Pressure parameters with a scan tool. Allow 2-3 seconds between each 200 RPM increment to allow the rail pressure to stabilize.
Its 2.0-litre engine is strong, smooth and economical. And you won't have a problem finding somewhere for it to be serviced. If AWD is deemed essential, then the base Subaru Forester 2.5i is another great choice. Lots of ground clearance, a gutsy 2.5L engine and a soft, relaxing ride.

The following is an oil pump priming method for a MAZDA BT50 and Ford Ranger 3.2 Diesel. Disconnect the battery to prevent you from starting the engine. Place an oil catchment bucket below the engine. Remove the oil filter. Fill up the engine with 15 (Fifteen) liters of oil. Allow the engine to stand for a full day 24 Hours.
Dec 14, 2009. #2. Its a widespread problem not just within the Mercedes group. Its the modern common rail which is the problem. They are in their own right fantastic engines prepared and tuned for great performance and equally economical. The current day and age, thats what the consumer wants, powerful diesel engines.
Mazda diesel engines are dogs just waiting to bite huge chunks out of your wallet, major design issues really, and mazda dont want to know when it all goes bang!! My 2014 mazda 6 2.2d 175ps is pretty much worthless with only 30k on the clock, this despite a full mazda service history and additional oil and filter changes every 4k miles..
I have a 2009 BT50 2.5 turbo Diesel ute that has travelled 126,000km's . It starts fine and idle as normal, when driving before motor has reached normal running temperature, below 2000rpm it miss fires and surges quite bad, over 2000rpm it runs normal and accelerates as normal. Once normal running temp is reached it runs fine.
